Day 01: Los Angeles - Istanbul, Turkey

Depart from Los Angeles airport. AV Travel tour leader fly with the group.

Day 02: Istanbul

Arrive Istanbul, Spread across two continents (Asia & Europe) and between two seas, Istanbul is a city of empires past. The Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and Galata Tower are just some of the many historic structures scattered throughout the city. (D)

Day 03: Blue Mosque - Hagia Sophia - Topkapı Palace - Grand Bazaar

After a good night’s sleep in the comfort of your hotel, wake up to a delicious breakfast spread that will fuel you for the day ahead. Get ready to explore the city’s rich cultural and historical heritage with the Highlights of the Historical Istanbul. This full-day tour includes the must-see attractions of Istanbul: Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, and Grand Bazaar. As you journey through the city, let your knowledgeable guide fill you in on the fascinating history and cultural significance of each location. Day 04: Bosphorus Cruise - Dolmabahce Palace

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before embarking on the Half-Day Bosphorus Cruise. As you board the cruise, take in the picturesque scenery and admire the stunning views of Istanbul from the water. During your 1.5-hour cruise, you’ll see the Çırağan Palace, Beylerbeyi Palace, Bosporus Bridges, Maiden’s Tower, and fabulous Ottoman Yalıs (sea-side mansions). Let the gentle breeze and the soothing sound of the waves transport you to a state of pure relaxation. This is a great way to see Istanbul from a different perspective and appreciate the beauty of the city from a unique angle. Visit the impressive Dolmabahce Palace, a symbol of Ottoman opulence. Day 05: Istanbul - Ankara - Cappadoci̇a

Morning transfer to the airport for the flight to the capital city, Ankara. It is a city of contrasts. The old quarter, built around the ruins of an ancient citadel, has narrow, winding streets and crowded buildings. Begin your journey with a visit Ankara Castle. Later, pay a visit to Anıtkabir, the Mausoleum of Ataturk. Inaugurated in 1953, it is dedicated to the founder of Modern Turkey.

Continue driving to Cappadocia, is also known as the “Land of Beautiful Horses,” so you should explore the landscape by horse as well as by hot air balloon. On the way, make the first stop in Eskisehir, a vibrant city known for its Ottoman-era buildings and lively cultural scene. (B/D)

Day 06: Cappadocia

Rise early for an unforgettable experience – a hot air balloon flight over the fairy chimneys and valleys of Cappadocia (As an option).
If you decide to take the flight you’ll need to wake up early before sunrise and taken to the launch site. As you soar over the stunning landscape, take in the breathtaking views and marvel at the unique rock formations that make Cappadocia so special. After the balloon, return to your hotel for breakfast before starting the Cappadocia Tour. Explore the mesmerizing Goreme Valley Open Air Museum, an incredible Byzantine monastic complex with beautiful frescoes. Visit the fascinating underground city of Kaymakli or Derinkuyu, delving into the mysterious history and architecture of these subterranean marvels. (B/D)

Day 07: Cappadocia - Pamukkale

Kickstart your day with a lovely breakfast. Drive to visit one of Turkey’s most spectacular natural wonders, Pamukkale. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is famous for its white travertine terraces and mineral-rich hot springs. We’ll also explore the ancient ruins of Hierapolis, where you’ll be transported back to the Roman era with its impressive necropolis and thermal baths. (B/D)

Day 08: Pamukkale - Kusadasi Ephesus

After your gourmet breakfast. Drive to Kusadasi. On the way, make a stop at the ancient city of Aphrodisias, renowned for its well-preserved Roman ruins. Explore the Temple of Aphrodite, the theater, the stadium, and the impressive marble sculptures. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Turkish countryside, passing by picturesque villages and landscapes. Come to the ancient city of Ephesus. You’ll marvel at the well-preserved ruins of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and visit the House of the Virgin Mary, a sacred site for Christians. You’ll have time to explore the city’s cobbled streets, ancient Roman baths, and impressive theater. Arrive in Kusadasi, a coastal resort town known for its beautiful beaches and lively atmosphere. Day 09: Ephesus - Pergamon Troy - Canakkale

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before the departure. The first stop of the day is the ancient city of Pergamon, one of the most important cultural, commercial and medical centres of antiquity. Here, visit the Asclepion, the most prestigious hospital in the ancient world and once home to the famous Greek physician and philosopher, Galen! See the old sleeping tunnels, the patient’s theatre, the swimming pools, and the courtyard, lined with Ionic columns for a unique insight into the science and medical practices of the Ancient Greek world! Another exciting highlight awaits as you continue to the archaeological site of Troy, one of the most legendary cities in all of history! Immortalized in Homer’s Iliad, discover the ruins of this incredible place and relive the famous saga of the siege of Troy. Afterwards, continue to Canakkale. Spread across both sides of the Dardanelles Strait, this historic city is home to excellent museums and many fascinating sights related to its strategic location on the Dardanelles Strait. (B/D)

Day 10: Canakkale - Bursa

Morning depart to Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire. Surrounded by lush forests and mountains, the city’s sometimes known as ‘Green Bursa’. Here, pay a visit to the spectacular Ulucamii Mosque, Kozahan Silk Bazaar and the Green Tomb the mausoleum of the fifth Ottoman Sultan, Mehmed I. After exploring Bursa, continue north to Istanbul. Day 11: Istanbul - Departure

After a remembering breakfast. Sadly, it’s time to bring your adventure through Turkey to an end. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport for a return flight to Los Angeles airport. (D)
