Where is the Deep South of the USA?

The Deep South of the USA is usually defined as covering the following states: Georgia, ALabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

Why Should You Visit the Deep South of the USA?

The Deep South is a fascinating part of the USA, a land with its own culture and history. The people are known for their friendliness, the food is legendary (so are the portion sizes!), and there is a huge amount of history here to learn about, from the native peoples through to the American Civil War and civil rights movement. There are lovely old towns, stunning wilderness areas, sumptuous plantation homes, spooky old cemeteries and fun events – like the world famous Mardi Gras parades. And what better way to experience all of this than by taking “the Deep South“  tour with AV Travel.

Depart to visit Luray Caverns, originally called Luray Cave, is the largest & most popular caverns in the Eastern America, discovery in 1878. Continue to see the Natural Bridge. Home of mother-nature’s enormous and breathtaking rock bridge of Rockbridge County, Natural Bridge sits in the southern end of the Shenandoah Valley flanked by the Blue Ridge Mountains. For years, Natural Bridge was a mountain retreat, drawing visitors from all over to view the awe-inspiring nature-sculpted arch that soars high above Cedar Creek. Once among our nation’s most visited natural wonders and known as One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the Modern World, the Bridge inspired the Monacan Indians to worship it, young George Washington to survey it, Thomas Jefferson to purchase it, and famous artists to paint and illustrate it. Just opposite this is the First White House of the Confederacy, also worth a visit, which was where the President of the Confederate States was based during the period of time that Montgomery was the capital city of these states in early 1861.
Time to head for the coast now, and the last stop in Alabama – Mobile, we’ll notice that famous style of French architecture that the old quarter of New Orleans is famed for, this is because Mobile was the original capital of French Louisiana. It was subsequently colonised by the British and then the Spanish, before joining the United States in 1813.
From Mobile, it’s time to leave ALabama and head west, into Mississippi. Biloxi is a Mississippi city on the Gulf of Mexico. It’s known for its casinos. The bridge is so long that for 8 of its 24 miles, you can’t see land in any direction.
