You’ll cover a lot of ground on a road trip across the Southwest. From some of the most majestic natural formations in the world to the largest Native American population in the United States, the Southwest has a spiritual depth unlike many other places on the planet.
This journey will take you through the area’s colorful landscapes.
Depart from AV Travel office in the morning. The journey starts with a drive to Scottsdale, Arizona. Visit Old Town has always been among the most vibrant and unique urban downtown centers in the American Southwest. Its pedestrian-friendly streets are home to world class art galleries, museums, restaurants and retail shops. (D)
Morning drive to Tucson to visit Rincon Mountain, has a tourist loop and many short trails to see the giant saguaro cactus and other desert plants. Along the loop, we will visit Desert Ecology Trail where you can take a brief walk to explore the giant cactus desert, photo stops at Cactus Forest Outlook and Loma Verde Trailhead. (B/D)
Surprise with a amazing White Sand National Park. One of the world’s great natural wonders – the glistening white sands of New Mexico. Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have engulfed 275 square miles of desert, creating the world’s largest Gypsum.
Along the White Sand loop, you will visit the Dune Life Nature Trailhead, walking on the Interdune Boardwalk, Alkali Flat Trailhead and Backcountry Camping Loop Trailhead. Approaching evening, leaving hotel to Carlsbad Caverns to experience the wonder of thousands of bats flying out of the cavern and into the night sky. Depart to San Antonio. On the way, stop by the City of Sonora to explore Caverns of Sonora. A one-hour guided tour in one of the most beautiful and active caves in the world. It is known as a National Natural Landmark where more than 95% of the formations in the cave are still “growing.” After that, we proceed to San Antonio. (B/D)
Morning visit to the Japanese Tea garden, features a lush year-round garden and a floral display with shaded walkways, stone bridges, a 60-foot waterfall and ponds filled with Koi. We enjoy a River Walk cruise in city center of San Antonio. A cruise that connects you to the city’s culture, history, architecture, and timeless charm. Continue to Austin. Upon arrival, we will have a photo opportunity at Texas Capitol – a granite & marble structure which was built in 1888 that has a significant rotunda & dome plus House & Senate chambers.
